Grandy's Brook (Burgeo)

After leaving Burnt Island, Zane Grey and his friends journey east on the Ondina along the southern coast of Newfoundland.  They made brief stops at the La Poile and Cerf Rivers and were impressed with the scenic fishing hamlet of Rose Blanche.  However, their destination was Burgeo where they soon docked.

From the fishing town, they travelled by foot and dingy to the legendary fishing stream, Grandy's Brook (not to be confused with the stream of the same name just outside of Burnt Island). Whether it was the good weather, the fine fishing or the friends they made on this leg of the trek, photographer Bob Carney took more photographs here than any other Newfoundland salmon fishing stream.

The wonderful map shown here was drawn the previous year by C.H. Palmer in his book entitled The Salmon Rivers of Newfoundland.
