For Fans Interested in Visiting the Rock

In late 2023, the author of this web story, Ed Meyer, and his wife, Kathy, travelled to Newfoundland.  Their hope was to visit places Zane Grey had been in 1929 and meet the wonderful people in Newfoundland.  The trip exceeded their expectations.  This exhibit has been revised to represent new information and provide new images relating to places Grey visited. In addition, the Meyers' trip extended to places never visited by Zane Grey along the less travelled West coast of Newfoundland all the way north to the islands' end near St. Anthony.

Any fan of Zane Grey would enjoy a trip those towns, bays and streams fished by the author.  However, it's a long way to "the Rock", so Ed Meyer includes a selection of additional images of western Newfoundland in hope they will provide an added impetus for a fan to visit.  The images represent only the western half of the Rock.  Certainly the more heavily visited eastern half of the island is delightful as well.  Plan on at least two weeks each to visit the two halves of Newfoundland.  For the western half, access is through flights to Deer Lake or by Ferry from Nova Scotia.  The eastern half is accessed through flights to St. Johns or a long ferry ride from Nova Scotia.

In addition to the Meyers' photos, Robert Brown is graciously sharing selected images from his "Bob's Newfoundland" of his trips to the same areas. Other than noting up front that these images are from locations from Deer Lake north to the St. Anthony area and east to include Kings Point, photos are not further identified so fans can enjoy discovering these places themselves.
