1921 Harpers Edition

In 1921, Harpers decided to once again cash in on Riders of the Purple Sage.  This time they "upped the ante" with an expanded series of images.  This time, the illustrations were full color and created by an artist named W. Herbert Dunton. Many fans believe this edition of the novel is the finest publication of the work.  The illustrations rival the 1919 publication of Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans with illustrations by the famous N.C. Wyeth. While we have chosen to focus on the early Harpers editions, there are many subsequent editions of Riders of the Purple Sage for a reader's consideration.
