The 1925 silent film version of Riders of the Purple Sage can still be viewed on YouTube. The movie has a full cast of actors playing roles familiar to all Zane Grey fans including:
Tom Mix (Jim Carson aka Jim Lassiter), Mabel Balling (Jane Withersteen), Harold Goodwin (Bern Venters), Warner Oland (Lew Walters aka Judge Dyer), Charles Le Moyne (Richard Tull), Marian Nixon (Bess Erne), Anne Shirley (Fay Larkin... later the star of Anne of Green Gables), Wilfred Lucas (Oldring), Beatrice Burnham (Millie Erne)
Also credited is Tim Mix's marvelous Tony, the Wonder Horse. Appearing in an uncredited role simply as a rider is a young Gary Cooper.
