Announcing a Zane Grey Playwriting contest
Contest will dramatize the life of long-time Altadena resident, famed author Zane Grey

Friends of the Altadena Library and The Moveable Theatre Company announce a collaborative venture: a Zane Grey Playwriting Contest. Playwrights will have the opportunity to dramatize the life of long-time Altadena resident, famed author Zane Grey.

Remembering Dr. Loren Grey
1915 - 2007

On Friday, February 2, 2007, our beloved friend Dr. Loren Grey passed away. Loren had been suffering from ill health for a few years, but had still attended our most recent convention this past summer in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania. Loren was best known as the youngest child of Zane Grey, the preeminent Western author, but the members of the ZGWS will remember him for himself – his friendship, his experiences, his stories, and his generosity to the society.

The Zane Grey Book Project

As mentioned in Joe Wheeler's article in the most current ZGWS newsletter, two of our newer members, Dan & Darlene Longacre have been working on a new Zane Grey book for a while. Dan has been collecting ZG for over 30 years and has decided to put out a new book on collecting ZG.

Chuck Pfeiffer's New Book
Zane Grey: A Study in Values - Above and Beyond the West

Over the years, there have been several books published dealing with the life story of Zane Grey. This book, authored by Dr. Chuck Pfeiffer, a member of the Zane Grey's West Society, and one of the world's leading authorities on Zane Grey, and published by the Zane Grey's West Society, with a foreword by Grey's youngest son, Dr. Loren Grey, is destined to become one of the seminal works on this author.
