Variants of the First Editions:
The Last of the Plainsmen

This information has been provided by Mark Hagner of the ZGWS.

A number of variants of The Last of the Plainsmen have been observed. Below is a listing of details:

  • The first printing of course, was by Outing

  • The next printing was by Hodder & Stoughton, I believe the same year. Same cover design and internal sheets except for the title page and spine.

  • The next printing was by A. C. McClurg (G. M. Farley states this second printing in 1911 is scarcer than the first) has Outing on the spine as does the first, but has A. C. McClurg on the title page. Same cover design.

  • And still yet, another printing by A. C. McClurg but with A. C. McClurg on the spine AND on the title page. .Same cover design.
